The Open Table Outreach Featured on WVIA’s Community Connection

We are honored to share that our founder, Shelley Rodriguez, was recently featured on WVIA’s Community Connection with Lisa Mazzarella!

In this interview, Shelley shares the heart behind The Open Table Outreach, the experiences that inspired its creation, and the mission to support individuals experiencing homelessness and hardship throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of New York.

A Mission Rooted in Compassion and Understanding

The Open Table Outreach was born from a deeply personal understanding that homelessness is not a person’s whole story. Every individual deserves dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to move forward.

Our mission is to assemble and distribute backpacks filled with hygiene products and other essential items to individuals experiencing homelessness. Through direct community outreach, we hope to meet practical needs while offering something just as important: human connection and the reminder that no one should feel forgotten.

What began as a personal vision is growing into a community effort, with the goal of reaching more individuals, building meaningful partnerships, and making essential supplies available when they are needed most.
